This post will leave you with no excuse not to smell good. Each tip is so fulfilling that if you only use one, you will still have the same desired result! Let’s dive right in!

#1: Soak in a Bath at Least Once a Week

Something about sitting back in a warm bath with bubbles floating and warm scents filling your space makes my heart leap! I know a tip like “taking a bath” may sound simple but for most people showers are more convenient. Taking a bath requires time especially if you do it the proper way! My best baths consist of foaming bath, Epsom salt, a moisturizing body oil (not slippery), and a dash of apple cider vinegar (ACV).  After you have set the perfect atmosphere to bathe in, hop in, sit back and relax! Wash away worry and stress along with the grime that has built up from everything you’ve done throughout the day. Dirt and grime have formed a layer on your skin (whether you see it or not) and sometimes those stubborn scents won’t leave until we soak a little. Think of bath time as a reset for your body and mind! With the busyness of life, a bath can soothe multiple areas: your mind, your skin, your bones, and joints; a bath is the ultimate reset! I want you to know that you deserve to be able to do this for yourself! Be intentional about making time for you and watch how it changes the totality of your life for the better! Check out some of my favorites for the ultimate bath time routine:

  • Epsom Salt: Trust me, you need more than one because it goes faster than you think!
  • Foaming Bath: Add enough to be able to have bubbles throughout the entirety of your bath
  • Apple Cider Vinegar: I recommend 1-2 cups in your bath water combined with a minimum of 15 minutes soaking
  • Body Oil: Remember MOISTURIZING not SLIPPERY

#2: Castile Soap

If you asked me a few months ago what type of soap you should use I would proudly tell you anything anti-bacterial will get the job done! I would go on to tell you that antibacterial soap gets rid of odor-causing bacteria and is a great base cleaner! However, in an instant that opinion changed for me forever!! One day, coincidentally, I was taking a bath and going through my self-care cleaning process. I made it to the step of “body wash” and had a few options to choose between. Ultimately, I ended up deciding on Dr. Bronner’s Castile Soap. I knew Dr. Bronner’s was good because I have used it for years but I underestimated its goodness! I usually try to use my antibacterial soap and castile soap on my hot spots (any place with a crevice) because those places produce the most odor! This particular day I used Dr. Bronner’s on my entire body but paid extra close attention to my armpits. I did this because there had been times in the past when I would shower and vigorously wash my underarms just to get out of the shower and still smell residue under my arms from the day and I did not like it. When I used Dr. Bronner’s and got out of  the bath—THERE.WAS.NO.SMELL! It got me so excited!! When it came time for me to put my deodorant on, my armpits had such a clean base that the fragrance of the deodorant was much stronger! You can incorporate both antibacterial and Castile soap if you desire but if you decide to choose between the two, Castile soap is the way to go. Dr. Bronner’s peppermint castile soap gives your skin a refreshing tingling feeling (which I like) but I recommend the discovery pack as well to give you the opportunity to figure out what best suits you! I did the discovery pack and figured out I like the lavender and rose-scented Castile soap as well!

Tip #3: Use an Exfoliating Towel/Gloves:

I can not stress this enough, THROW AWAY THE LOOFAH!! To get rid of dirt and grime there has to be something with enough abrasiveness to lift the substance off of your skin. A loofah does not do the trick! An exfoliating towel is going to give you double for your trouble by removing dirt but also smoothing your skin out. I have been personally using some type of exfoliating towel or gloves for years and I can attest that it does make a difference. My skin is much smoother, and softer! Exfoliating towels are also great because they don’t hold nearly as much bacteria as a loofah and/or regular face towels. If you invest in the right exfoliating towel, you can keep it for years on end. Therefore, my recommendation is an african net sponge (The real ones). An African net sponge is going to clean off those dead skin cells, while also promoting brighter skin! Trust me, once you try one you will NEVER go back to a regular wash cloth

#4: Use a Separate Towel and Feminine Wash for Private Areas

Nothing is worse than being uncomfortable downstairs (Trust me I have been there). Due to our private areas being sensitive and its own natural cleaners, any disturbance can disrupt balance. This in turn causes itchiness, dryness, yeast buildup, and other common irritations. One of the leading causes of irritation are soaps and highly advertised feminine products. Just because something is advertised does not mean it is good for you! You should clean the crevices of your private area with a sensitive feminine wash and the inside with only water! I personally love baby dove because if you turn the bottle over to the back side it lists every ingredient found in their product and the purpose of it–to me, that is how you build trust! I want to know what I am putting on and in my body to make sure that I am doing what is best. It is also a baby wash so it’s meant to be gentle on the skin. You also need to make sure you use a separate towel when you are ready to wash these sensitive parts. If you use the same towel you took a shower with, you risk placing all that residue from the products that you used in and on your private area. Baby wash cloths are non abrasive but still clean effectively which is important for an area that requires gentleness

#5: Invest in a Luxury Perfume

Your perfume choice really draws everything together! Perfume will stick better on a clean base–whether that is your clothes or skin! A luxury perfume to me is anything that projects my presence, NOT the price tag! I want people to know that I am in a room by the way I smell! Based on your budget choose a perfume–if you do it properly you can find something that sticks. My signature scent is something that makes me smell fresh and clean–I get endless compliments when I choose my “clean girl” scent as my perfume for the day. For your convenience, I will attach some “tried and true” fragrances ranging between $20-$100 dollars. Once you choose your fragrance be sure to spray on all of your pulse points and on your clothes as well to achieve maximum projection.
